OTE Donates to Onondaga Longhouse
May 6 2020, Turtle Island News – A new dining room for the Onondaga Longhouse has been a long time coming. And two tireless fundraisers are thrilled that the longhouse is one step closer to its goal of having enough funds to construct a brand-new cookhouse and dining hall.
Michelle Miller and Amy Silversmith, treasurers, were thrilled to receive a $50,000 cheque from Original Traders Energy, a Six Nations petroleum distributor. The two women have been fundraising for two years and the money will help them get quotes for the construction. “We really need a new one there,” said Miller. There is no running water at the current cookhouse and the dining hall capacity is very limited.
